Hi unknowntoyou,

There are many advantages to hearing. You can communicate with others, you can better perceive the world around you. While people can live without the ability to hear, it's definitely much more enjoyable to be able to talk to your peers, listen to music, or experience nature in all its glory.

Hope this helps.
