How Salty Does the Sea Have to Be for an Egg to Float

Post by cagray »

My daughter has chosen "How Salty Does the Sea Have to Be for an Egg to Float" as her science fair project. She has to write a paper as part of the project. She must have at least 3 offline sources. We took her to the library today to find books and can't find anything useful. Any suggestions on what to look for are greatly appreciated. Her bibliography is due the middle of the week.

What kind of terms did your think of when searching for books or journals in the library?

She can learn how an egg floats researching terms like density and buoyancy.

She can learn about ocean salinity and dilution (how much salt in an amount of water).

The background tab of the project page lists a few more terms that might help in your search.

Try these as a start and feel free to write back if you have any further questions.

Good luck!
