Why does mouth wash appear blue or green?

Konor - To answer your questions simply:

1) Mouthwash is blue or green because that is the color of the dye the manufacturer added to the product.
2) Orange juice appears orange because the light reflected to your eyes has a wavelength (or frequency) that is perceived as orange by your eyes.
3) Our eyes interpret or perceive color as a function of the wavelength of the reflected radiation.

The visible light spectrum human eyes can interpret is between 350 nanometers in wavelength on the deep blue end of the spectrum to about 650 nanometers on the red end.
