Testing Acid Values of Frying oils

Post by jenjoe28 »

I would like to test the Acid Values of Frying oils for my science fair experiment. I am having trouble finding proper procedures for analyzing the acid values in oils. I also need the advice to know if this is too advanced of a project of a junior in high school. :D

Hello jenjoe28,
Here are a couple of links which might help you:

The first is from the science buddies project ideas:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... uringtheph

The second link gives a tutorial in measuring acid value in biodiesel!

http://biodieseltutorial.utahbiodiesels ... ratingoil/

I don't have experience in this but maybe other experts on this forum can advise you if this project is suitable for a junior in high school!
