Microbiology Project Regarding Antibiotics zones of inhibition

Post by lesilee123 »

Hi,
Quick question. So I am conducting an antibiotic lab, when I first started my lab I grew the bacteria first. After 24 hours I then placed the antibiotic disc. The next day when I went to check on the plate I saw the a zone of inhibition had not formed around the disc. The second time I placed the bacteria and the disc at the same time and a zone formed the next day. Why did it not work the first time?
