How does the body detect glucose levels to trigger hormone secretion?

Post by Kevvvin »

One of the question that has stuck to me is the question similar to the one stated above: How does the body know when to secrete insulin or glucagon? Do beta cells and alpha cells have a sort of glucose detectors, and if so how can these cells differentiate between high concentration and low concentration of blood glucose levels?

This forum is for students in grades K-12 who are doing science projects. If you are doing a science project please tell us more about your project so the experts can help. What is your hypothesis and how do you plan to conduct an experiment to test that? Thanks!
