Variables

Post by JoshxLang »

i have conducted an experiment.to test if the density of a ball will affect the way it will bounce.the balls i have used are a marble, golf ball and cricket ball.i dropped the balls from three different heights five times.Could you pleas tell me what the variables are and please specify?

Hi JoshxLang,

In any experiment, an independent variable is something that you change to get a measurable response. The response is the dependent variable.

From your description it appears that you changed two variables. One is the type of ball and the other is the height from which the balls were dropped.

Did you measure how high each ball bounced after being dropped? If so, this would be the the response you measured due to the variables you changed.

The following link has more detailed descriptions and examples of experimental variables that you may find useful.

I hope this helps. Please post again if you have more questions.
