Hi there. You have picked such an interesting project!

Let us think about this for a moment. A control group is defined as: a similar test where the independent variable is left unchanged to provide a comparison.

We already know that the hurricane is altering the water in some way, right? We can see that easily. It is the same with wind, or a boat cutting through the water, or rain. Any of these things are considered altering the oceans natural state hence a variable. What in this experiment is changing the water? The hurricane, right? So, thinking about this--what if nothing was happening to the ocean/water? That would be the control since it is the way the ocean is without outside things changing it.
