Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

Hello,
I want to create a transmitter which transmits a signal when it receives a particular sound from the surroundings.
And the receiver should receive that signal from the transmitter and should give either mechanical output such as
Pushing the small object or audio as output.
So what do I need to do !
