Science Buddies: "Ask an Expert"

I am researching the accuracy and response time of the hygrometer,which needs me to make a hygrometer. Therefore I want to ask the request of the hair for hair hygrometer. Can the hair having been blown, permed and dyed be used?

Hair that has been blow dried should still work fine for this project. I'm not sure whether using permed or dyed hair would do, so I would avoid those types of hair if possible. It will be important to use the same type of hair for all three hygrometers.
