Hello I was wondering if anyone would know if this science fair question would be aloud for 8th grade. Whats the best way to throw a lacrosse ball?

pointz,

Thank you for the question and welcome to the forum. I think you are on the right track for an interesting project. Sports related science fair project can be tricky though to ensure you have a clearly defined set of variables (dependent, independent, control).

I would suggest being a bit more specific with your question. For example, how does hand position affect the speed of a lacrosse throw? Or how does body position affect the accuracy of a lacrosse throw?

These are just some suggestions to get you thinking. To help, here is a link to a science buddies project on throwing a baseball that seems similar in objective that could be helpful in developing your experiment with a lacrosse ball.

Good luck and be sure to post back if you have any further questions.

hi pointz,

Just adding on the theborg's answer, maybe you could further improve your experiment by using several different balls (for example, baseball, lacrosse ball, tennis ball) and performing the same experiment that theborg suggested using all three balls, seeing which one gets the best results.

Thanks, hopefully this helps.
