I am having trouble finding out what a good real life application of this experiment would be.

Hello ericap,
Thank you for your question and I am happy to see you using this website
Is this the project you are doing? Or is it a different one?
http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-f ... p008.shtmlRead the BACKGROUND information section to find out more about this, and also:
http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/eyecol.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_illusionFirst off, make sure you know what chromatic adaption is. "Chroma" meaning color and adaptation, meaning adjustment to a change. In what situations is chromatic adaption used? Why is it important? What if we weren't able to adapt? After you read more about this, what other questions do you have?
Have fun and come back as often as you need to.
Always remain curious,
Sarah
