Hi,

Having a microscope is a great opportunity!!! Here are a few beginner activities:

I remember having a microscope as a kid. The most interesting thing I did was just looking at everything I could think of with it. If you can get some stains and learn to prepare slides with stains it gets even more interesting. This can be majorly cool!

Have fun!!!!!

Here are a few additional ideas from our own site.

http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-f ... p010.shtml (for a lower grade level, but could be modified to make it more challenging for a 6th grader)
http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-f ... p015.shtml (for a stereo microscope)
http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-f ... p035.shtml

Good luck!
