Hi,
I am just starting on the project of inherited fingerprint patterns and I was just wondering if there was more I could do with the project, such as taking it to the next level or broadening it. Thanks.

Re: Help on Project of Inherited Fingerprints
Hi chang,
If you provide "inherited fingerprint patterns" to answers.com you'll get a wide variety of resources. The articles suggest that fingerprints are inherited, with the possibility of false matches between family members.
Among the top hits are:
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articl ... id=1679205
http://onin.com/fp/lpfaq.html#q3jq (look under "Are fingerprints inherited... are they more similar between family members than between strangers?")
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articl ... id=1685016
Do these help?

Hi chang,
I would also recommend reviewing the following thread from another student who looked into this very subject!

Please let us know if you have any more questions, and good luck!
Best wishes,
Geoff.

Hey Chang,
In addition to the other great comments it may help you to check out another science project that was done on the subject by looking at the following link:
http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/History/2003/Projects/J1014.pdf
This source is a short article by someone who works at a fingerprinting office.
http://www.scafo.org/library/130101.html
Good luck and I hope this helps!
