Synopsys Silicon Valley Science & Technology Championship

Website

The Synopsys Championship has an excellent website: http://www.science-fair.org/

Eligibility

All students in Santa Clara County in grades 6-12 are eligible if they have not competed in any other Intel ISEF-affiliated fair in the same school year. A student may enter only one project and/or one technical paper.

SRC Requirements (What's SRC?)

The Synopsys Championship has very strict SRC requirements.

EVERY PROJECT at the Synopsys Championship must have a designated supervisor. Because your Science Buddies Advisor, if you have one, does not work with you in person, he or she CANNOT be your designated supervisor. "The Designated Supervisor will provide direct supervision and must be the one to complete and sign this form. The Designated Supervisor can be a teacher, parent, or other adult knowledgeable and trained in the research being done."

If your project involves any of the categories below, we suggest you review the information posted on their Websitehttp://www.science-fair.org/src/

Does your project involve...asking your friends or other people questions? experiments on yourself? experiments with people in any way? (Human Subjects)

Does your project involve...your pet? any other animals that have bones (except people)? E-mail 2src@earthlink.net immediately for assistance with experimental design. (Non-human Vertebrate Animals)

Does your project involve...mold or other fungus? bacteria? viruses? anything that might make you sick? cultured samples collected from the environment? (Pathogenic Agents)

Does your project involve...prescription drugs? alcohol, wine, or beer? cigarettes or other tobacco? gunpowder? any product which the student may not legally purchase? (Controlled Substances)

Does your project involve...DNA from one organism inserted into the DNA of another organism? (rDNA)

Does your project involve...anything coming from a human or animal body? cheek cells or other cells? teeth? bone? fluids such as blood, saliva, or urine? (Human and Non-human Vertebrate Animal Tissue)
