Hi, I want to make something with lights that can been seen but don't light up the area around them. I want to stop the glow from the lights though the lights themselves can still be seen. Is there any way to do this, could I use a filter?
Thank you, Antony
Re: lights
Hi Antony,
I'm not sure that I understand what you are trying to do. Are you wanting to design lights that only light up a certain area in a specific direction (like a spotlight)? Or are you wanting to design a…

Through this forum i have an unsolved problem: When we conducted an experiment to observe the image properties that resulting by reflection or refraction of light by using a concave mirror or convex lens, such as an object is a candle or lamp bulb, when we place a lighted candle or lamp bulb at a certain distance in front of the mirror or lens, why when formed real image captured by the screen only shape of fire on a candle or light on a lamp bulb? While rod of the candle or lamp…

When light travles through different mediums does the frequency or wavelength change? If so are there some equations or method i could use to determine the frequency and wavelength? I'm using a laser for my experiment. Could i use a double slit?

light reflection makes light darker?
light reflection makes light darker?
Hello everyone,
I am a teacher in Belgium, so forgive me my bad English.
Lately I got a strange question of one of my students while he was working on a project about lights in glasshouses.
the light he used was a standard fluorescent tube, put in a mirror-like box to reflect. by accident he noticed that a mirror on the floor reflected the light back up (what is normal). So he tought that if he reflect the…

Light Pollution
Light Pollution
I became interested in light pollution when I was looking for science fair ideas relating to sea turtles. Since lighting can affect nesting sea turtles and hatchlings, I thought I could do something about good/bad lighting.
My proposal right now is which type of light bulb produces the least amount of lux/luminous emittance, and we were going to measure lux of different light bulbs. Independent variable is type of light bulb. Dependent is lux level. LED,…

Magnifying Light
Magnifying Light
I finally decided on a topic. I am going to try and increase light in a room without upgrading power usage or wattage of the light bulb. I will be stirctly using optical components. I've researched units of light (lumens, footcandles, etc.) But the question I have is do simple lenses increase visible light of lumens at all? Is the light they refract visible?
Thanks
You might want to do a search for "lens refraction". One hit that I found was…
