Cancer Genome Anatomy Project
Cancer Genome Anatomy Project
Hello everyone! I am doing the Cancer Genome Anatomy Project for my school science fair project this year. Today I was working on the experiment and once I entered my first query it told me the database would send me an e-mail once it was done running. That was 4 hours ago.. Why isn't it working?

Does gene-expression consist of only transcription and translation?
Are oncogenes the only gene that causes cancer?
Is the website closed on weekends?
Thank you for your help. :D
Sincerely,
NO NEW EMAILS. :(

Cancer Genome Anatomy Project
Hello everyone, I'm unsure how to start this, so I'll just jump to it. I was perusing the site and came across the Cancer Genome Anatomy Project. It looks really interesting, and I've read the procedure and background pages. I have tried to do the pancreas search, in essence I have completed steps 1-8, but I never get any results from the website. Nothing ever comes up. I have used my email as well, but it never sends me a link…

Model for Cancer Cells
Model for Cancer Cells
Hello, I need somebody's advice about a model for cancer cell growth.
I am using an extract from mango seeds to see if they have anti-cancer activity. I have read articles online of the potential anti-cancerous properties of mango seed extract. It apparently has the ability to arrest cell growth. I selected mangoes as they are one of the most abundant fruits in the world.
I am using Saccharoycmes Cerevisiae (yeast that I intend on getting from…

Cancer Genome Anatomy Project
Hello. I decided to do this project and i found it confusing, I really dont get the basic concept from it . Can someone please give me a quick summary on what the project is dealing with. Can someone answer what is an over-expressed gene and what is an under-expressed gene? How should i start my project? I have this hypothesis but dont know how to start it goes like this; Is there a difference in gene expression of certain genes…

Cancer Genome Anatomy Project
Hi,
I am doing the Cancer Genome Anatomy Project. I wanted to know what am I really able to test with SAGE Genie. Which questions regarding genes can be answered using SAGE Genie?
Re: Cancer Genome Anatomy Project
Hi Science1234,
Would you be able to provide more background on your project. The SAGE Genie is not a test. It is a software tool used to study gene expression (or how and when genes are turned into proteins).

Glycolysis and cancer cells
Glycolysis and cancer cells
I've been doing preliminary research on how cancer cells can get their energy from glycolysis. I was thinking about simulating glycolysis (whether through yeast or using a science kit) and then testing how well certain natural inhibitors work to prevent the glycolysis process. The problem is I am not too clear on what my dependent variable should be. Testing for carbon dioxide or something else? If it is carbon dioxide, is there an…

Science fair project: Cancer
Hi Mr or Ms Science Expert,
Firstly, I would like to thank you for reading my post. My name is Haarini and I'm in grade 8. I am willing to participate in the York Region Science and Technology Fair. My topic for this year's project is going to be based on cancer and a possible cure for cancer. I did some research about a drug called dichloroacetate which was tested to cure gliomas and several types of brain tumors as well.I read many…

Cancer Genome Anatomy Project
Hello,
I am in 10th grade and I am trying to do the Cancer Genome Anatomy Project for my science fair (Due Nov 23). The two background research questions given by the site were * What does it mean to say a gene is "expressed" in a tissue?* What types of genes would you expect to be over-expressed in cancer tissue? I have done my research and know that for #1, expressed in a tissue would mean that the gene is used and…
