Telehealth scales up during the pandemic to offer patient care in the safety of the home

The Medical University of South Carolina rapidly mobilized a four-pronged initiative to ensure continuity of care for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and continued ambulatory care for all other patients, reports a team of telehealth and bioinformatics experts in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association. The initiative included virtual urgent care, remote home monitoring and telesitter programs and an unprecedented shift of most outpatient visits to a telehealth format. Read more
