Effect of pollution on vegetation

Hi Blue.

To start with, I would suggest putting "pollution vegetation" into your favorite search engine, ("vegetation" is better than "plant," since the latter has manufacturing connotations.)

The project would be to recreate growth on plants subject to some pollutants and growth without the pollutants. A full x/y graph could be made, using different concentrations of the pollutants and with different pollutants. I could explain further if this is not self-explanatory.

Another variant is whether you use seeds or plants. Seeds are a lot less expensive and may show more dramatic, graphable results. Full plants make a wonderful display. So, there are tradeoffs.

Sounds like you picked a great subject for a great project!

Good luck!

Hi Blue,

Re the short-term impacts of pollution on vegetation: I'm sensing that you think this is counterintuitive. In other words, that pollution can only be seen long-term. This is why I suggested seeds. Pollution may have a large, short-term impact on seed germination rates.

I don't know the answer, just have a suspicion. I think it's worth investigating. Do you think it would make a good project?
