ISEF Prep:I need as people to answer these ?'s Please

Post by yinyinwong »

Hello I am called Yin Yin Wong. I am currently a senior in Northgate High School. This is an engineering ISEF Project I am doing for my physics class taught my Mr. Retle. After going to the conference and some thought I have come up with these questions. Please answer as many of these as possible. I would love more than one reply.

1. What designs for windmills are most efficient?
2. What are some materials that are light and durable that are used to make windmills?
3. Is it efficient to make the actual spinning part of the windmills light?
4. Does the rotor or whatever converts rotational energy to electrical energy stop immediately when the wind stops or does momentum keep it going? If the momentum keeps it going after rotor stops, does it still produce energy?
5. Does the rotor inside the windmill effect efficiency?
6. Just some general info on airborne wind turbines. They sound like a really cool idea.

Hi,

You may want to review this related thread from earlier this year:

Is there a way or place i can look to, to build a rig to test for windmill efficiency.
