What makes a Tesla coil sing?

Post by Shinkochan »

Lately, I've noticed a lot of "singing Tesla coil" videos on You Tube. What makes a Tesla coil sing? How much of this Tesla music is art/human manipulation and how much is science? Would you consider the Tesla coil to be an instrument, and if so, why?

Can you answer "What makes sound"? If not, then try putting it in your favorite search engine or ask.com.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is my first thought in response to your question. If you view something as art it is art. If you apply scientific methods to understanding something there is science involved.

A Tesla coil can definitely be considered an instrument, but what kind of instrument? There are scientific instruments and there are musical instruments. Can it be both? A scientific answer to that question is probably not be possible.
