I have a question about the electrolyte challenge. When we placed the straw conductance into orange juice the very first reading was 19.1 and when I repeated this step three times the multimeter screen would go blank when in the Orange juice both on the second and third time but when we took the straw conductance out of the Orange juice it would give you a reading . What may have happened and what do I need to do to fix the problem ?

Welcome to Science Buddies.

I think you are doing this excellent project:

A blank multimeter screen usually means that the circuit is not complete. Clean and check the connections to make sure all connections are intact. Make sure the meter is completely dry before using it. Try replacing the batteries. Here is a troubleshooting guide that may give some other ideas. If you cannot solve the problem, the multimeter may need to be replaced. If this is a new meter, contact the vendor.

Good luck. I hope you can resolve the problem quickly.
