Growing bacteria

Post by Cookies_marley »

My daughters group wants to swab several items in the class and grow bacteria on Petri dishes. She wants to see which item grows the most bacteria . How do they set up the different variables?

Hello Cookies_Marley,
Welcome to Science Buddies and thank you for your patience!

One place to start is the "Constructing a Hypothesis" in the Science Buddies project guide:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ience-fair

There is also useful information on handling petri dishes in the Microbiology section in the Advanced Reference Materials:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... references

Let us know if any of these sections helped and if you have more questions.
