Using plastic

Grade 3s are asking about human behavior and plastic. We want to know why people don't recycle and don't reuse it? Thanks for your help with our research!

This is a great area for you and your students to explore. Of course, many people do recycle. But there isn't a single answer as to why some people do not. You could set up a survey with your students and families to gather more information about recycling habits and then do research to find statistics about recycling and see how your small sample compares to larger numbers. You might also brainstorm together to think of all the reasons people might not recycle, as well as all of the benefits of recycling. These would be good ways to talk about this real-world issue.
