Black Holes

Postby npgl1971 » Mon May 06, 2019 12:13 pm

Hi, I'm in third grade and wanted to do a research project on Black Holes for my science fair. Is there a way to actually illustrate how black holes work? I was thinking of using a funnel and some styrofoam peanuts and a hand held vacuum that could suck the styrofoam pellets into the funnel.
Thanks!

Hi,

You might want to check out these projects on our site:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/stem-act ... hole-model

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... lar-system

They show how you can make a model using a large, stretchy piece of fabric. Your vacuum idea also sounds like a good one though!

Hope that helps,

Ben
