Hello,

Thank you so much for reaching out! Just in case you want to familiarize yourself with the different types of variables in an experiment, here is an article that could help: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... /variables.

Regarding the Water from Air: Experimenting with Dew Traps experiment, your independent variable will be the diameter of the holes you are digging. In your first round of trials, you will have a hole with a diameter of 1 foot. Then, in your second round of trials, you will have a hole with a diameter of 2 feet. Your dependent variable will be what changes as a result, and in your case, it will be the average amount of water collected per area. Different hole diameters (independent variable) will result in different amounts of collected water (dependent variable). The amount of water collected DEPENDS on the diameter of the hole. Finally, your control variable can be many different aspects of your experiment which could influence the dependent variable. As stated in the experiment, the collectors must be identical or unchanged so you could see the effect of only one variable (hole diameter) on the amount of water collected.

If you need any clarification, please feel free to ask!
