Hi - You can find information about writing a research paper in the Science Buddies Project Guide. Our Research Paper page contains a sample and a checklist, too. You can reach it here: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... l?from=AAE

The Project Guide is here:

If you have questions about any of the steps, please post back to this same topic at Ask an Expert, and one of our volunteer Experts can assist you.

Hi,
If writing a research paper, make sure to cite everything that is taken from an outside source. If you are unsure about information that you got from an external source, cite it. For easy citing just go to easybib.com and use MLA.

Just remember, a research paper is just like any other essay you've written so far. The only differences are the rigor of source citations and the formal tone. Other than that, it should flow coherently like a normal paper. Just trust your previous writing experience, and you'll do fine!

Also, if in your section about the research that has already been done you use quotes from other research papers, you must cite the author(s) right after the quote.
For example:
"riugheigjnfdjcoaekfcmdiofonfif" (Author's last name page number) <----so that could be (Verne 34) or (Rowling and Verne 78) or (Rowling, Doyle, and Verne 67)
