For the project supercooling water, what are the variables in the experiment?

Hi,

Remember what “variable” means with regards to a scientific experiment. You have independent variables (things that you purposefully change) and dependent variables (things that change as a result of the independent variable).

Are you running multiple trials/versions of your experiment? What are you changing from one trial to the next? The answer to that question will be your independent variable.

How does the outcome of your experiment change from one trial to the next? You should be measuring some value and keeping track of this data in your notebook to determine how the independent variable affects the results of your experiment. Whatever this data is that you are keeping track of is your dependent variable.

Does that clear things up? If you need a reminder about the procedure for the supercooling water experiment, here is a link to the project page: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ng#summary
