I am doing a science project on evaporation and if evaporation can keep chocolate from melting. I have these following questions.
1. In what ways is evaporation used to cool objects?
2. Do you think evaporation will be able to keep chocolate candy from melting?
3. Do you recommend any ways to measure the temperature of chocolate?
Thank you
Evaporation

Re: Evaporation
Hi and Welcome to SciBuddies!
To answer your first question, evaporative cooling is used in many systems today, like HVACs, and is even a process in your body! When your sweat evaporates off of your body, it absorbs heat, making the body cooler, since it took away heat in order to evaporate. Here's a link for more about evaporative cooling : http://www.baltimoreaircoil.com/english ... ve-cooling
The evaporation will help keep the chocolate from melting, if the experiment is done the right way. Here's an example of the procedure : https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti ... h-physics/
The best way to measure the temperature is by using a thermometer. You could ask your science teacher if they have, if you are unable to get one yourself. You should measure the temperature in intervals, maybe every 10-15 minutes or so, depending on the length of the procedure.
Hopefully this helps!
