Re: I need help finding background info for my science idea!
Hello! What an interesting science fair topic!
As for my research, this specific of a question might be hard to find on a database, encyclopedia, or really trustworthy source. Most that appear are from exterminators, which could be reliable, but also might lack some important scientific background.
Here are those links:
https://www.westernexterminator.com/blo ... ype-sugar/
https://www.animal-pestcontrol.com/sugar-attract-ants/
https://www.combatbugs.com/en/home/tips ... -ants.html
However, I can recommend that you research more of a broad topic in relation to biology, such as "Do different sugars attract different animals/insects?" Or "What is the basis of an ant's eating habits/diet?" or "Why is sugar an attraction to insects", which could bring about more specific details in your findings.
Sorry, this topic is difficult to research! Don't give up! Let me know if you found anything!

Re: I need help finding background info for my science idea!
Hello and welcome!
Sounds like an interesting project idea! Would you perhaps be willing to share some more about your project with us so we can better assist you? (What do you plan to do/ what is your experiment set up specifically?)
In order to better understand your project and gain a full load of knowledge on your topic, your background info should contain some broader ideas that you could research, such as
- Why are ants attracted to sugar
https://www.animal-pestcontrol.com/sugar-attract-ants/
- Why is sugar important for ants
You could also look into how ants leave a chemical trail to let others know about the location of sugar, which could be a pretty neat addition to your project:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/ag ... -pheromone
Also, look into the anatomy of an ant:
https://ants.com/ant-anatomy-101/
Start there, then you will find that background research comes super easy once you get going!
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need any extra help or if you need help reading any of these sources. The one about chemical trails could be a bit challenging depending upon your skill level, but I'd be happy to assist if you need the help!
Best of luck,
