Hi Stephanie!
Looks like an interesting idea! For background research, you might want to look into the definitions of the following words from the website you cited. For example, arc, trajectory, backspin, basketball shooting percentage. I don't know if you've taken physics yet, but you might want to try looking into the physics of projectile motion. In addition, you could try looking up other factors that affect basketball shooting percentage. Check out this link:
