Surface Tension

Post by Inger34 »

We are interested in doing the surface tension raft, but would like to do more research on the properties of water and surface tension. Would you recommend some books or articles that may be of help?

Dear Inger34,

The project sounds very interesting and fun. You might be referring to "Build a Raft Powered by Surface Tension" (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... #procedure) . There is a lot of background information about surface tension and water on that guide in a section called "Background". If you used this already, you might want to read "Introduction to Surface Tension" (http://web.mit.edu/nnf/education/wettability/intro.html) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology for more information about surface tension and "Sticky Water" (http://www.exploratorium.edu/ronh/bubbl ... water.html) for more information about water and what makes it sticky.

I hope all of these resources will help you for the project. If you have any other questions or need help, please let us know.

Hi,

In addition to the resources already listed, you can try https://www.khanacademy.org/science/bio ... ce-tension for some very in-depth background info. Hope this helps!
