Hacking the Air Gap: Stealing Data from a Computer that isn't Connected to the Internet HELPPPPP

I have a student that is very dedicated to completing this project. What would be his independent and dependent variables? what would be his constants and what would be considered his experimental and controlled group?

Hi kenzlemoine,
I am afraid this project is more of an engineering project than science experiment as it is currently written.

If your student were to do one of the variation though, such as the first one listed, it could be modified to better fit an experiment.

For example, Which method is least likely to be noticed by humans using the computer? Your student could have a control group (say no hacking is taking place) and an experimental group that's experiencing the hack and then compare the detection results.

Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help.
Good Luck!

Hello kenzlemoine,

One additional suggestion to add to the previous expert's excellent suggestions - your student might find useful information about control variables and independent vs dependent variables in the Science Buddies project guides:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ience-fair

There are separate guides - 1 for science projects and 1 for engineering projects. I think both would be very helpful since your student's project seems to maybe be a hybrid!!

Be sure to let us know if you have more questions!
