gel electrophoresis

Post by biobuddy »

Hi, this is my first time in the forums and I seriously need help.
One of my requirements for my science fair project is that I need
to ask an expert for information. Can somebody help me find one seriously soon?

Thanks

Hi biobuddy,

Regarding the text in your post:

a set of project ideas is at:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... deas.shtml

a method to select a project is at:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... gister.php

Hopefully these will help you find a project.

A project using gel electrophoresis is at:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... p028.shtml
The reference above includes extensive material on gel electrophoresis, including two references for "more involved and technical explanations."
Cheers!

Thanks very much, but I already have my project and most of the materials.
This is the website where I got the idea, but I sort of tweaked it a bit. The thing I need
is an expert to ask questions about genetics and other stuff. It's one of my requirements
for resources other than books and website. I need someone I can email or talk to on this forum.
Do you know someone who I can use?

Thanks very much.

Hi biobuddy,

You can post questions on this "Ask an Expert" forum. We'll do our best to help. Note the text above on the purpose of the "Ask an Expert" forum: "If you have a question about your science fair project, you are in the right place!"

If your question is not related to a science fair project, this forum may not be the right place. You may not receive a response, or, at best, a statement that the question is out of scope.

I'm not aware of other forums like ours. Maybe others can help.
Cheers!

Hi Biobuddy,

One method that I have found to be helpful if I have a question that I need answered by a proffessional, as opposed to an expert like the people on our forum, is asking my physician. The best way to get an answer from a proffessional is to ask someone you know or is related to someone you know. I find that most proffessionals are willing and enthusiastic when it comes to helping young people interested in science. You can begin by asking your doctor or someone that he or she knows is an expert in the field. Also, if you let me know the details of your project, I can try to help you find a scientist at a local university who can answer your questions.

I hope this is helpful!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I'll see if I can ask a physician or a doctor.
If I can't find anyone, I'll give you the details of my project.

Thanks!!!!!

I do agree that for these assignments to interview an expert, it's often best to talk to someone in person. Just so there's no confusion, the experts in this forum do include (and are not limited to) professional physicians, scientists, and engineers. If you are working on a science fair project, and have questions about gel electrophoresis, feel free to ask.

Good luck!
