Hi, I need help with this experiment that I am doing for a school science fair. For the project, I need to study the rate at which oil is being degraded. However, from the sites that I have been searching on, they say that I should use a light spectroscopy? I don't understand how to do that, could explain how to do the light spectroscopy or an easier way to find the rate at which oil is degraded?

Hello H456,

You could search the Science Buddies project guide
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... e-projects
for projects which involve measuring oil degradation.

Another way to search Science Buddies resources is to type "oil degradation" in the "search sciencebuddies.org" in the top right hand corner of your browser window. This will bring up other posts in the Ask the Expert forum as well as links to external references to oil degradation and/or spectroscopy.

Let us know if that helps. If you have more questions do not hesitate to post again. When you do, it would help the experts here to help you with your specific project if you could provide a link to the project description. Thanks!
