How do I infect plants with TuMV virus?

Post by applejuiceeeee »

Hello!

I'm doing a project with turnip plants and I don't really know how to go about infecting them with the mosaic virus. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thank you! :)

Hello!

Here is a classroom guide from the American Phytopathological Society that describes how to infect plants with TMV. This experiment uses tomato and pinto bean plants, but the procedure should be the same for your turnip plants.

I'm not sure where you're getting the virus from, but if you're using a kit like this one, then it should also come with instructions on how to prepare the virus and perform the infection.

I hope this helps!
