Aquarium ph and alkalinity

Postby hotpockets626 » Wed Jan 20, 2021 3:34 pm

I just had my aquarium water tested. I have a pH of 8.4 but alkalinity at 0. Is this possible? Please explain.

Hey hotpockets626,

I’m no expert with pH, but the pH scale includes alkalinity and acidity. This link might help. https://courses.lumenlearning.com/wmopen-nmbiology1/chapter/the-ph-scale/

I don’t think that it’s possible to have an alkalinity of zero, because that would be acidic. You should probably just read the pH reading.
