Experiment

Post by e09de9d5ecf0403d8f8291f7c41ad958 »

I wanted to make a home made body scrub I was wondering could I mix it with a koolaid pack and make it edible. If I mixed oil and a koolaid pack how long can it stay in a jar. No water so I’m not sure if it needs preservatives. But I was wondering how long will it last since it’s no water. I don’t want to use it all at one time. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

What kind of oil would you use? You might take a look at expiration dates on the oil and Koolaid packages. Choose the shorter expiration time as an estimate for your mixture.

I hope this helps and good luck with your project. Please post again if you have more questions.

Thank you for replying. Coconut oil. And I was wondering if I mix the koolaid and the oil will it have an affect on anything going bad like milk have to be refrigerated and once you open juice you have to drink it in like a week or 2 or it goes bad. But I’m not sure when those things are made if water is added. I know anything water is added to needs a preservative. Mixing ingredients have different affects. So I’m trying to see how long I can keep it without it going bad. Thanks in advance

Hi Evelyn41,

You might want to try searching online for information on shelf lives of coconut oil and Koolaid.

I don't think mixing dry Koolaid with coconut oil will shorten the shelf-life of the oil. Prepared Koolaid (mixed with water) probably has a much shorter shelf life than coconut oil. So a mixture of the oil and prepared Koolaid would have a shorter shelf life than the oil.

I hope this helps and good luck with your project. Please post again if you have more questions.
