Shape of an antenna

Post by Archerbaird »

Is it possible to tell the shape of an antenna transmitting a signal from the receiving end?

No, there are generally many factors that affect the signal by the time it is received. Reflections off surfaces, for example, cause interference. You might be able to guess at the antenna shape if you were able to map the power distribution in space (how sensitive is each location?)

This is a forum for K-12 experiments, so if you are helping a student with a science fair, feel free to post some ideas about experiments and we can help further.

Best,
