Encryption Science fair idea

Post by sabrinaleary02 »

Hi!
I am in 10th grade and need a science fair idea. I wanted to do something with either math or computer science. I was thinking about doing a science fair project that tested the security of different encryption methods using Python programming, but I wasn't sure if it was an idea that was way out of my league. I don't have much experience with encryption, but know a fair amount about python. I was thinking I would test the security of either different encryption algorithms or different methods (such as symmetric key and hashing).

Is this idea too hard/not doable on python?

Hello there, and welcome to Science Buddies!

This is certainly doable, and computer security is a hot topic these days. It would be an interesting project. If you look in the Science Buddies Topic Ideas section, you will find a couple of projects that might give you some ideas of where to go or how to start and even make your own project.

Write back if you have further questions. Good luck!
