Electrolyte solutions for Battery That Makes Cents project

In the Battery That Makes Cents project, under the make it your own where different liquids are suggested (lemon juice, soda water, etc), would you still need to add the 1 T salt? Thanks for your help!

Hi LinseyWilliams,

The salt will not be necessary with the different liquids suggested. The salt is used in the original experiment in order to provide the electrolytes necessary for the success of the experiment with the use of vinegar, however the lemon juice, soda water, etc. all provide their own sources of electrolytes, so the salt will no longer be necessary.
