5 year old would like to know how to create a wand that will help him create a robot

Is there a way for a magical wand can be made that can build robots? I would like the robot to have the ability to do all household tasks and anything else that we need. What type of science would be needed to do this and how long would it take to create?

You and your five year old might not be ready yet to build a robot that can take over all the tasks you describe, but if you are interested in exploring robotics at home, you might consider a project like the Junkbot robots. This robot uses the Bristlebot Kit and recycled or craft materials. Kids can get creative designing their robot and learning more about simple circuits.

This kind of robot can't be "programmed" however to do tasks.
