Immune checkpoint inhibitors

What roles that immune checkpoint inhibitors play in the process of cancer fighting? The mechanism described in the page is quite abstract to understand as immune system is a giant environment for drugs to take effect. Any feedback on this is appreciated.

These forums are specifically for K-12 students, parents, and teachers working on science fair projects. Is your question related to a K-12 science fair project? (Your question doesn't immediately strike me as related to such a project). If the question is related to a K-12 science project, what is the hypothesis you are trying to test? If your question is not related to such a project, then a different set of online forums will be better able to help you.
