We want to build a solar powered search and rescue robot.We have to control the robot with a radio remote control. We would like to use a cheap and good range remote control system for our robot. Could anyone tell what are our best options?

To name a few, how many channels you'll need (one for each motor you'll need to control), what max range you'll need to operate at, and your budget.
