Need help with Graph

AFTER you've done your research and concluded your experiments, it is time to prepare for the science fair. Ask specific questions about preparing for a science fair, including how to set up your display board, how to prepare a presentation, etc. (Please post questions about selecting a project or conducting your experiment by posting in the appropriate "area of science" forum.)

Need help with Graph

Post by El1zabeth »

Hello, My fourth grade daughter is doing Glowing Alum Crystals for her science fair project. She grew one batch with highlighter ink and one with out to test the idea that the flourecent highlighter ink would make alum crystals glow under a blacklight. We are nearly finished with the project, but realized that a graph is required. How can we make a graph with this type of project? Any help would be very much appreciated!!

Hello,
Did you collect numerical data for your experiments? If you did not, it might be hard to generate a graph for your experiments. What kind of data did you collect? Did you only test two samples? You could develop a qualitative or descriptive numerical scale to describe your findings to your audience (as long as you describe your "scale" and how values were assigned to samples). You could then generate a graph using these assigned values.
Hope this helps,
Veronica

Hi,
I agree that numerical data is a good idea. I also think once you have the data then you can do a bar graph and compare the numbers to come to an conclusion.
Sincerely,
Jay
