Does my question work?

Postby Kikajs » Tue Mar 30, 2010 1:08 pm

Hello,
This is the first time I have heard about the science fair and I am a bit lost at the very begining - making up a question. Does this question: "How good are humans at telling the difference between a fake or a genuine smile?" seem good enough?
Thank you

Your question sounds fine. You could make it shorter by saying "Can humans tell the difference between a fake or genuine smile?" but I'm being nitpicky.

I assume you are using our project idea about smiles, if not check out this page: http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-f ... p043.shtml

Take a look at our project guide, which walks you through a science fair project step by step. Just look at the left side of the page under "How to Do a Science Fair Project"

Good luck and let us know if you have more questions.

Hypothesis

Postby Kikajs » Tue Apr 13, 2010 1:21 pm

Hello,
i want to ask one more question (in the end I changed my experiment...)
Is it okay if I have the BECAUSE in the hypothesis very long?

You actually don't need to say "because..." in your hypothesis.

Here's our page about the hypothesis: http://sciencebuddies.org/science-fair- ... esis.shtml

If you want to explain how you came up with your hypothesis in your background research paper, that would be fine. But the hypothesis itself should consist of: "If [I do this], then [this] will happen."
