introduction to experiment

What should be included in an introduction? Can i repeat some of the things that i have in my purpose in my introduction? And how long should it be? A paragraph? Thanks for all the help.

What you're calling an introduction is basically the same thing that the Science Buddies guide calls a 'research paper'. The purpose is to help the reader understand what you're investigating and why it's important. Most of the information should be cited from the books and articles that you read while planning your experiment.
As for length, that depends on both your particular project and how long your teacher has requested that the total report be. The introduction is often the longest part of a science-project report, though. For example, in a five-page paper, it would seem unusual (to me) for the intro to be less than a page long, and it could even be two pages.
