I need some advice for my science fair topic!

AFTER you've done your research and concluded your experiments, it is time to prepare for the science fair. Ask specific questions about preparing for a science fair, including how to set up your display board, how to prepare a presentation, etc. (Please post questions about selecting a project or conducting your experiment by posting in the appropriate "area of science" forum.)

My topic is 'Does background music effect memory?'
In in 9th grade and I don't really know exactly how to start out a science fair.
So can you please give me some advices and also tell me some things that I should really do for this topic?

Thank you. :D

Hi mjkiki,

The process of doing a science fair project is explained in the Science Buddies Project Guide. Please read it “cover to cover”:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ndex.shtml

I am not expert on the interaction of music and memory, but here is a summary of the discussions on music and memory held on the Science Buddies Ask An Expert Forum over the last several years:

I ssupect you need to do some research using your favorite search engine (Google, Bing, or other) on mechanisms of memory formation and the influence of music on memory. The only thing I have heard of is the “Mozart effect”, a largely discredited idea that listenin to classical music might enhance perormance on tests. Here is a sample google search to get you started:

Good luck!
