Most of pupular cartoon cahracters have a thumb and three fingers on hands and feet. Can anyone explain, why this special kind of limbs for cartoons? And what is the significance of it? :?:

Unless this question is dealing with your science fair project, this question is not appropriate for this forum.

As to the sail effect, according to my research it is the effect of wind on the canopy of trees. Since trees with dense canopys have more surface area, and therefore more resistance to the wind, they cause the canopy to fill with air, causing the canopy to fill with air.
