Results vs. Discussion

I noticed that in many peer reviewed articles, the results and discussion are clumped into one section.
But for competitions like Siemens, results and discussion are separate sections.

What exactly is the difference between results and discussion?
How much analysis should there be in the results?

Hi dfmhs -
Results imply what was observed by the tests that you ran without interpretation. The Discussion would be your interpretation of the results and should prove or disprove your initial hypothesis. I hope that helps.
